Family Cookbook Redesign Complete

The cookbook is finally finished thanks to Cass and her amazing design skills. The redesigned app has been online for about a month now but i havent been able to work out all of the bugs until a few minutes ago.

The page does still render a bit strangely using ie 6 so i would strongly recommend to anyone using ie 6 to download Firefox.

Gallery Layout Update

I updated my photo gallery and changed the layout. You can now view all of my photos using lightbox js. I wrote up some instructions on the welcome page that explain how gallery navigation works in case anyone is having issues.

I removed the wiki because it sucked and i didn’t like looking at its stupid face. Also, i changed my mind about the shark logo and all sharks in general. Sharks suck, regardless of what they say or what fashions they decide to wear. Keep your eyes peeled for cookbook 17.0 because Cass is nearly done redesigning it. Its gonna look super fly and if you don’t add your favorite recipes than you’re a jerk. Toodles for now.

Two More Galleries Added

Cass and I did a bit of adventuring this past weekend, and we documented our travels with Cass’s super fly Rebel xt slr. Montano De Oro rules.

Rails Cookbook On the Webs

Ever since the beginning of puppetchow.net I’ve been anxious to utilize my recipe wiki. I invited my friends and family to create an account and start posting their favorite recipes so that if anyone was stuck on what to make for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, they would need only to log on to the wiki and browse for something that seemed fitting.

The problem with this idea was that most of my friends and family had never heard of a wiki before and simply had too much trouble figuring out how to use it. Most decided that rather than take the time to figure out how to post a recipe, it would be easier to crack open a book or search the webs.

Rather than encourage them to sign up with one of the many recipe communities on the internet that allow users to share and bookmark their favorite recipes, i opted to offer them a simpler solution.

My buddy nickpeters suggested to me that I look into creating a simple ruby on rails web application that would allow everyone to create and edit recipes with ease. I did just that, and its finally online. Check it out, post a recipe or two, and send me your feedback.

Even though i have little use for a wiki now, I have decided not to take it down because the shark icon is awesome. Best wishes from my kitchen to yours! Bye ya’ll.
